Bi-modal tech & innovation – is it critical for success in professional service firms?
Time: 12:15 pm - 12:45 pm
Date: Day One | Monday 11th June 2018
Theatre: Main Conference Room
Technology is changing the world of work in ways that significantly impact your ability to gain and maintain a competitive advantage. The pace of technological change has increased substantially, spelling out a big challenge for incumbent market leaders who face an existential dilemma: stick with a proven, successful model or compete head-on with innovative, tech-focused new entrants. The concept of bi-model technology development suggests that firms can combine both approaches but that requires big decisions and big changes to organisational models and cultures. How do you establish a bi-modal model? Will it work for professional firms? Can the current of resistance from powerful ‘it if ain’t broke’ stakeholders derail the pursuit of innovation? This session will deliver both education around this critical concept and help with practical plans. Ultimately, delegates will ask themselves: where do we place the emphasis: agility or stability, ‘milk the cow’ or innovate? Voices from across the professional sector will discuss their views and experiences.
